Gran Canaria with kids: the best family plans

Gran Canaria is an easy destination with kids: calm beaches, theme parks, dolphins and activities for all ages, with good weather almost always. Here are the plans that work best for families.

Updated 23 August 2026

With mild weather all year, short distances in the south and plenty of sheltered beaches, Gran Canaria works really well with children. Between dunes, animals and a calm sea, it's easy to fill a week without anyone getting bored. These are the family essentials.

Camel ride over the dunes

A classic, calm plan that kids love: riding along the edge of the Maspalomas dunes on camelback, with the sand mountains behind. Gentle and for all ages.

Sioux City: the Wild West in a ravine

In a southern ravine, this Wild West town puts on shows with cowboys, duels and dancing, a different and very fun plan for families.

Dolphins and a calm sea

A boat trip to see dolphins and pilot whales is a great plan with kids: trips of a few hours from the south, many with a swimming stop. The morning sea is usually calmer.

Tip: buy park tickets ahead, bring water and sunscreen, and book sea trips and the camel ride for the morning. The southern beaches (Amadores, Anfi) have calm water, ideal for the little ones.

Camels, a Wild West town or dolphins, Gran Canaria is enough for a family week without repeating. Book ahead in school holidays, when it's busiest.
