Boat and sailing trips along southern Gran Canaria

Southern Gran Canaria is best enjoyed from the water: swimming coves, cetaceans and the "Canarian Venice" of Puerto de Mogán. Here are the options — from a shared catamaran to a private sailing boat — and which one suits you.

Updated 23 August 2026

The south-west's marinas — Puerto Rico, Puerto de Mogán, Arguineguín — are the gateway to Gran Canaria's sea: warm water almost all year, hidden coves and a coast that mixes cliffs and beaches. A boat trip adds swimming, snorkelling and, with luck, dolphins.

Shared catamaran with a swim

The most popular option: catamaran trips that cruise the south coast, stop to swim in a cove and often spot cetaceans along the way, with food or drinks on board. Ideal for a relaxed day at sea.

Private sailing boat: on your terms

For something more exclusive, a private sailing boat with skipper lets you choose the route and stops, sailing along the coast. The premium plan for groups or celebrations.

Tip: book a morning trip, when the sea is usually calmer; the wind can pick up in the afternoon. Many trips leave from Puerto Rico or Puerto de Mogán, the latter lovely for a stroll before or after.

Shared catamaran or private sailing boat, southern Gran Canaria is a different place from the water. Choose by budget and how much privacy you want, and book ahead in high season.
